Folks, looking to go fishing in Troon, can anyone tell me any good marks to fish and any baits, tactics etc for this area. Your help would be much appreciated.

Never fished there but there is a massive seal in the harbour basin the trawlers use, even when the boats are all at sea - must live on something.

there are several seals there but even more seem to appear when the boats come in.

you can fish ballast bank which is next to the harbour, float is best option for wrasse as it can be very snaggy if fishing on bottom

He is an approachable guy, as are most people in the club. Maybe his internet is down. Maybe he does'nt like your approach ????

So no, as far as I know there is no public slip in Troon. The marina will cost you and a beach launch would be tricky. Hope that answers your question

Yes he is in the Ayr angling club but he's a busy man. If he had time I'm sure he would have answered your emails mate, he's a decent guy. The only place I would reccomend launching a boat in Troon would be the slipway at the marina but it is safe and might cost a few bob. The sand on Barassie shore can be dangerous when the tide is flooding. And at certain parts of the shore the sand is almost like quicksand when there is water over it.

Hope that helps a bit mate, cheers, Davie
