Kerguelen Island.
Anybody know anybody who has fished there?

Um ... I have to admit I struggled to determine within which of our geographic forums your post should actually go in! And I think you're probably right in plumping for General. They really do sound remote - http://www.btinternet.com/~sa_sa/ker...n_islands.html !
Unfortunately I can't think of anyone who's been down there, or even remotely near it. And it certainly sounds a hostile environment.
The further South any of our Club members have fished is the Falkland Islands for Sea Trout, but they're an introduced species. And commercially there does seem to be a significant fishery for Squid in that part of the world but Kerguelen .... um.
It would be fascinating to hear what does turn up if you're fortunate to get a posting to the islands.
