Help needed - NI
I'm new to shore angling and was wandering if anyone had any tips on bait/location/tides/time of year for the Co.Down coastline. I've finished killard point which is good for pollock/laithe but am looking to get into a few Rays/doggies/flatties from somewhere less snaggy!
Cheers!!!

the best place for you to go is around the antrim coast. if you want to go for wrass then bangor is the place to be. if you want the rays then you need to be shooting up to donegal. kerrykeel pear is about the best at the min. i was there 3 weeks ago and had 9 thornbacks up to 9lb
where in co down are you?

Heard some good Plaice had been caught in Red Bay recently, only been catching small ones myself though.
Another place to consider for Wrasse is the rocks below Blackhead lighthouse - had them to over 4lb there.
Things are looking up!

You might want to check out http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/ if you haven't already. K2, Pookie and HRocks on the Bulletin Boards are up your way among others. Nice bunch of guys too.
