Legend Lures goes live on FaceBook !!!
Fellas, a spot of bronchitis recently gave me 48 hours to sit and do something I've been meaning to do for a while - which was to put up a FaceBook page for Legend Lures.
Now while this may not thrill to many of you, I do know there's a hardcore bunch of people on this forum who I know and have fished with who might be interested. There's also some people who use and like our gear, and then there's a few more reprobates who like to read about my somewhat misguided exploits around the world with big fish. Hopefully some of you will pay a visit ! There's a lot of familiar faces in the photos for some UK anglers !
This FaceBook page is intended mainly to be a showcase for the photos, and I've put 300 or so up already, many from the Madeira days, together with some catch records. I know this is what will be of interest to most people, and to put it bluntly, using a FaceBook page to do this means a lot less work for me and those who want to see the goodies, and it makes the whole deal a lot more interactive with a bunch of people from around the world. As it develops, I'm also going to try and put up some of the many diary entries I have in my logs too from the Madeira days - there's a lot of people been waiting for that.
So, if you're interested, by design or default, pop in and have a look at the page, which you can do whether you are a FaceBook user or not. If you want to become a "fan", then sign up to Facebook and you'll get the updates about news, new gear and fresh photos. If you don't want to become a "fan" simply bookmark the page and visit often, or click on the FaceBook logo when you feel like a laugh or a story.
Hope this doesn't offend anyone and the mods don't shout at me for spamming - indeed, if a mod visits our page, be sure to leave a link back to this forum and you might find a few unexpected visitor from around the world reciprocating the visit !
Have a great night,
Roddy

There's some wonderful descriptive text that Roddy put together on posts 19 and 20 on this thread - http://www.big-game-board.info/engli...e-marlin-grow/ - on another forum regarding two of the biggest fish he's seen - a BIG Marlin in Madeira and a GIANT Tiger Shark from Midway Island in the Pacific.
Somewhere also, and Roddy might even post it, there's an bit - used to be on his web site - www.legendlures.com - that described a day in Ascension Island (South Atlantic) when he encountered THREE grander sized Blue Marlin.

Hi PJ
I read it a while back and yes, Roddy has a certain way with words.
He's a mate of mine through written correspondence and one meeting when he was in Alderney... call it a pen pal and never a funnier guy can be found. Also very helpful and genuine too.
No doubt he has his feet up in his house in Southern France, supping a glass of red and scoffing cheese.

Putting my feet up ? Fat bloody chance of that.
Supping wine ? Maybe.
Scoffing cheese ? Perhaps.
Helpful and genuine ? God, how easy it is nowadays to pull the wool over people's eyes......
Dave, thanx for the reminder about the beeg fish story, will put that one up too.....

Finally Kimble (sorry, only mean something to those who can remember David Janssen in the American '60s series - the Fugitive.) ...
Roddy's just posted it, MY favourite Ascension Island story on his Facebook site, here - http://www.facebook.com/note.php?not...4053345&ref=mf. (Best described in my dreadful schoolboy French as - Jamais un sans trois.) Read it though. It's what we all dream about in terms of Big Game fishing.
I actually heard about the saga firsthand - from those of you who've been to the island - at the farmhouse on Green Mountain, having negotiated the 24 (I think) 180 degree 'hairpins' up there in a dreadful old hire car - manual transmission without power steering - driven by Zak Conde and accompanied by Marty Bates. It was just a few days after that fateful day - what if that REALLY big fish had hooked up - and the 'crew', especially Olaf, were really still so very excited. Um ... no surprises there! And yes, we had 'one or two lemonades' to celebrate and steel us for the journey down, back to Georgetown and the 'Saints' bar!Last edited by PanamaJack; 09-11-2009 at 10:14.

Thanks for the kind comments, guys. Don't believe the claptrap people like West and Bettle write, though.
A few more new bits gone up recently. I'd do some more photos but my scanner won't work for some bloody reason and I can't find the drivers for it.
