    Yamaha F4A problem.

    Hi Folks,
I recently purchased a secondhand boat, part of the deal was a Yamaha F4A [4stroke 4 hp] auxillary outboard [prev owner said it was ran twice] Today I started the engine , with the water intake in a barrell of water, but there was no tell tale flow of water from the water outflow. I stopped the engine to prevent overheating, then I checked the water intake it was clear, so I guess that the impeller has become coated in salt and siezed, could somebody please tell me where in the outboard can find the impeller housing, so I can inspect the impeller?
    All replies greatly appreciated.

The water pump is on top of the gearbox. You have to split the gearbox away from the upper leg. The impeller is in a housing around the drive shaft. It may have become set and inflexible with so little use.
