Normandy
Hi Jon
Sorry I can't help with any personal observations but, if it's of any help, there're some French web sites identified on this saltwater fly fishing thread - http://ukswff.proboards26.com/index....ead=1142407241. They certainly appear to catch reasonable numbers of Bass, which I believe the French refer to as Bar.
If you get stuck there's translation software - Babelfish - on the http://www.altavista.com home page, or here's the link to another one - http://www.online-translator.com/url/tran_url.asp.
Certainly be interested in details of anything you catch. Please post back after your holidays.
Kindest regards
Dave

Caen
Its mostly flat sandy beaches
Bass, plaice and sole with the possibility of a few codling according to the reports.
The reports from the french fishing magazine is that the fishing is very slow with just a few flatfish about.
But with the weather beginning to warm up it can only get better
The best bet is to try the boat channel into ouistreham
