i went to avik brygge last year at the same time to fish the southern norway championships. the fishing isnt what you are expecting, the boat fishing is very poor infact two mates of mine who finished second and third spent there time fishing 30 yards from land as there is practicly no fish in deep water. the shore fishing will produce quite a lot of species but very little in the way of good fish. you can expect to get cod coalies pollack flounder dab plaice gurnard cuckoo wrasse and whiting. if you are prepared to travell around a bit you may find a few other species , when we were there we were told by a local to look for places with sund in there name as this means that it is tidal and with the tide pull you can catch more fish. we took lots of peeler crab, mussel and frozen black lug with us and we expected to catch mackeral to use as bait but they didnt turn up. we managed to buy some locally and we did get a few fish out. its best to use 2 rods 1 with a big bait and on the other one fish baited feathers, this really made a difference to our catch rate but we only discovered this on our last days fishing. take all your own food with you and take all your own drink as the prices in norway are amazing. on the plus side is the people are very friendly the country is beautiful and you wont find a cleaner place in the world. the weather was red hot while we were there and we had a great holiday but dont expect to get many big fish. if i can help you with anything else get in touch and let us know how you get on.

its about 10 miles frtom the ferry terminal but you should be able to find it no bother. the super markets are all pretty much the same and you will pass plenty when you are driving in this area. by the way dont take live bait with you its not allowed and it will be taken off you before you get on the ferry, this caused a load of trouble last year as the competition organizers arranged for supplies of rag worm from seabait to be delivered to us at the ferry terminal this was paid for then soon as we went through customs it was confiscated. there were a lot of unhappy anglers on the way out. thats why you need a cool box with your frozen bait to keep it in good condition.kenny

we took black lug with us but it was all frozen, if you bury your cool box in your car and say no if you get asked about having any live bait you should be ok, the house we stopped in had a massive chest freezer for fishing and a good sized fridge freezer in the kitchen for your food so you wont be stuck for bait storage.
good luck on your trip and if i can be of anymore help just give us a shoutkenny
