    Hi folks,

I'm new to fishing and this site.
I am visiting Fort William on the 9th July and was wondering what type of line and bait was best.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Boo

I've had mackrel off the peir at fort willam when I was a wean mate. I caught them on abu tobies with a light spinning outfit. I remember trying to fish some marks from the shore too but there was a lot of kelp close in and I kept on loosing gear so gave up pretty quick. So from boyhood memories I'd say 25 to 30 lb line if you are planning on fishing on the bottom.

As far as bait I'd take the usual, live rag, frozen black lug and some macckie. Possibly some squid and try anything I find on the shore while I'm there too. There used to be a tackle and gun shop in fort william, dont know if they are still there or whither they sell livebait

Thanks Weepete. I'll give that a bash.
I believe that shop is still there and sell everything you need, so i'll be paying them a visit

I was flying into Corpach on Tuesday and saw a guy catching a load of what looked like mackies from his boat, I might head up and give that area a go myself.
Ohh, the anger sharks are swimming in my head!

    Corpach

As a pretty inexperienced angler (Holiday angler) I have enjoyed catching many Mackies and a good few pollack from the Corpch pier using a spinning rod with usually a stinger or dexter, have also had success with feather rigs but no enjoyment there.

Had seatrout from Linnhe lochside caravan park a couple of times over the years but not been up for about 3yr.

Great place to visit and now I'm delving deeper into sea fishing it maybe time to return.

    Tight lines mate.
