Buy them as late as poss the day before and keep them in the peat/sand they came in. Keep in a cool place (but not the fridge). Keep the newspaper (they always come in newspaper) damp. Before you go fishing change the newspaper and keep damp again. They should last a treat.

I just chuck them in the fridge in the stuff they came from the shop. Had them last a couple of days no bother.

Me too, just throw them in the fridge. The missus doesn't seem to mind as long as the newspaper is in a plastic bag. They seem to be able to last a good few days like that.

I guess it all depends on how long the tackle shop has kept them in his fridge before he sold em to ya !

Ive had worms last a few days, and others that didnt last the journey from the tackle shop to the beach !

I agree find out when they get their worms in and open them in the shop to check them before you buy.
If fresh they will last a few days in the fridge. Just keep checking them and remove any dead ones.

Same here, been fishing for over 20 years, worm goes straight in the fridge when I get home, check it regularly and change the paper if it is totally sodden. If it was decent worm (not always a given these days unfortunately) it should last for a good four or five days if necessary.
