    Dover trip

Got a trip booked out of Dover next week on the Louise Jane - he has said we will probably get out ok providing the wind is not Northerly - at least that is what the guy who has organised the trip has told us he said.

Why would the wind direction make a difference? I have always thought it was the strength of the wind that decided if the boat would sail or not.

Anybody got a link for a good weather site that will give the wind forecast for next week?

It is more likely to be anything with any East in it that will stop you getting out from Dover I would think. A northerly would leave you shelter from the cliffs and it is not necessary to go far out for fish at the moment so a Northerly would probably be the best direction for you.

Looking at this http://www.xcweather.co.uk/forecast/dover it seems like the wind could be up to 38mph for the 16th - better start thinking of another date.

    Hi mate....
We've been out from Dover many times when wind in in the north the sea will flatten out so 4-6 would be OK you'll be amazed.
    Get those cod!!!!

He meant you will get out if the wind IS Northerly. He will probably steam along to the Metropole as theres been a few caught up that way lately, not huge numbers but a decent stamp of fish. Good luck, Rob

That makes more sense to me - I figured somebody had their wires crossed, most likely the trip organiser.
