PLUGS: Whats Your top catcher??
Personally, i'm mostly a rapala man, with J11 or J13 top boys, and sliver (small one) gaining slowly!!
Also rate yo-zuri arc minnows.
The only surface plug i have is a jitterbug which i have caught several pike on, buy never tried in the sea.
SSA lure passing by at a steady course and speed might well tempt the fish; but if you give them something to chase - they cannot help themselves.....

Dexter wedge is what i use mostly, but plugging I rate these;
New Dexter surface popper, the bottom one,

Recently had a lot of fun with Shakespeare Big S plugs under a set of shrimp hoikis on a super light set up. Never tried before, but after 3 weeks on and off I am hooked, looks weird but the theory is sound. Lead sinks but as it floats and dives deep when pulled you get more vibration in the water, when nearing weedy ridges just let it float up and gently pull over. Not lost one yet !

What's the weight of those plugs Sals ?
The problem I've had with these things is casting out - esp. in high headwinds.
I end up adding a weight to them, they sink and I end up getting the "massive" contraption snagged and losing them (3 already !).
By the way, let me know where you're gonna be later this week.
Cheers

16g on the surface poppers, Dexters go upto 80g !!! Best way to cast the lighter lures is to scale down the tackle, light weight spin ( carp ) rod 8-15lb line. I use a

That Dexter surface popper is good, also a lead head with jelly eel with the hook tucked into the rubber so it doesnt snag. I hate weed fishing, does my head in ! LOL
Be a late one indeed, should be quietish though, tides drop off mid week so wont be that good so will get a couple of sessions in along Llandulas as well as a few on the Island.Know how to prevent sagging?

The smaller Yo Zuri Mag Popper is top of our list - always out fishing our other plugs. They cast really well too because of the moving ball bearings inside. The sandeel colour seems best of all.
