Toronto
Im heading over to Toronto next week, 13th Sep and im hoping to do a little fishing for a day between the 20th and 26th sep. I would love to catch a sturgeon but im not at all sure if this is possible but i reckon some pike fishing is also on the cards.
Transporting rods will be a problem so im hoping to bring over a telescopic rod. What fishing will be available to me around Burlington and the City? if any? what are the local restrictions on fishing in these parts? and are there any local stocked fisheries? I dont want to travel far and I fancy doing mostly lure fishing and hopefully ill be perfectly placed for it. But as i said id love to catch something a little different to regular freshwater fishing in the UK. Any information would be greatly appreciated!
cheers

Hi Rossy
I suspect that you're the wrong side for Sturgeon - most species are found on the Pacific coast and its rivers. The odd Atlantic may turn up but I've never seen any reference to them.
You'll need an 'out of State' licence - there's reference to it on this url - http://www.mainlander.on.ca/fishing/licence.htm.
Also, whilst a lot of the fishing in the 'Great Lake' is very specialised for Salmon and Lake Trout using downriggers and depth sounders, there're some places identified on this link that you'll be able to shore fish in the metropolitan area - http://www.torontoharbour.com/toronto-fishing.php.
Now, and this is speculation on my part, although next month - as part of a trip to the 'States - I'll be fishing one of Lake Ontario's feeder streams for Pacific King and Chum Salmon and Brownies, you may encounter migrating runs of spawning Trout and Salmon in the local streams. I really can't be certain though.
If no one else responds could I suggest that you try posting to the forum on this site - http://www.fishontario.com/. You might get more detailed advice from it.
All the Very Best and please post back a note of how your trip goes.
