Mauritius
Hi all,
New to the forum but not fishing.
Have fished in Mauritius on three occasions before with Sportsfisher (Garnd Baie) and Killer Fishing (Trou au Biches).
Not greatly impressed except for a 116 Yellow fin. (2002)
Does anyone know of any private boat owners/charter skipper that can provide some good sport (9/10/06 - 26/1006)
Regards
David

Mauritius
Hi David
Still awaiting feedback from our Club member who currently lives in Mauritius.
In the interim though I found this url - http://www.fishingandhuntingsafaris.com/index.asp - to a guide I'd heard mention of in a fly fishing forum. Several anglers, having fished with him, had posted complimentary remarks about him.
As well as fly fishing though he also surf and reef fishes, mainly with poppers, for Giant Trevallies. If nothing else the photographs on his site are worth viewing.

I've fished with Sportfisher boats on many an occasion and I can't fault the boats or the crews, a fantastic and very well operated outfit. Only problem has been the lack of fish, numbers dropped year on year until we just stopped going.
Friends there tell me that they have started targeting the GT's now. It's pretty easy to get a local with a small boat to take you out past the reef where casting big poppers should work. Make sure you have the right gear though, these are serious fish.
