trigger grip lure rods
was just wondering if anyone has used this type of rod with a small multiplier? would be especially interested if anyone has used a grauvell rc bass rod with the trigger grip, how do they cast with light lures? also interested in using one for light inshore bottom/floatfishing from my kayak, cheers to all who reply!!

mike,
I have been using a bait caster and multi for both fresh and sea.
i use a multiplier ABU 5600 and 30lb braid casting is accurate and distance is not a problem with say 20gms, i have a single hander 6ft which i use for estuary work
a longer rod would be needed for shore plugging around 9ft.
Martin.

I use a rouge 8ft swimbait double handed trigger with an Abu 6601 c4 lefty loaded with 20lb braid. I use this from my kayak and have landed some nice fish whilst using it. It is a good set up for trolling, light ledger, float and for lure casting down to 20 gram. It's great fun and I have even had small tope on it.
Almost all single handed are 6ft which limits you to only fishing on the drift as you wont be able to guide a fish around your anchor line, but with the 8ft double you get the same sort of action but with the advantage of the length to fish at anchor.
Hope this helps

viewed the greys g 100 spin at veals, bit pricey at 100 quid but its got a lifetime guarantee. it has enough of a handle to tuck under the forearm but will still be able to cast single handed. i did try the john wilson super 6 in the shop but this was truly a single hand only and would be very very hard to put any pressure on a good fish. mike

I've got an old Normark Gord Burton Whopperstopper 71/2 foot double handed trigger grip rod rated 1oz to 21/2oz which I use for heavyweight beach plugging and as a 12lb class pollack/bass rod from the boat. It's the bees knees as far as I'm concerned it's not a bad light jerkbait rod for pike either! If the wind is a problem when plugging I change over to an Abumatic closed face reel with either 12lb clear Big Game nylon line or 30lb Fireline instead of my ABU 4500 multiplier with 30lb braid.

Hiya, I have a wee Abu Colt Trigger Grip rod, and use it for Mackeral,Doggies, Coalies, etc off my boat....its fitted out with an Abu 5000 reel with ( Wait for it) Penn braid...I cannot fault it at all...does the job well, tho' might get an extra ring or two fitted....
specially with a "Bigger" (i.e. 1lb Makkie), fish on....
Also, Just had an Eagle Claw 5ft 6 in 4-8lb ,Bait Caster fitted with a closed face reel, sent over from the U.S, by a mate, for my grandson. But think I'll give it a test drive before he gets it !!! Well, Hes only two years old !!!!

I've got the 4'6" eagle claw with a closed face loaded with 4lb braid absolutely brilliant for all small species in the sea, and for spinning for trout, sea trout, and perch.Best sea fish on it so far 11/2lb black bream!
