Namibia - Boat Fishing
We are off to Namibia at the end of the month for a week fishing based in Walvis Bay. We will be doing some ski-boat fishing while we are there. Can anyone help us with what to expect in terms of type of fishing (bottom fishing or trolling), type of fish etc?
Very excited
Thanks
Mike

Hi, Never tried myself but know locals that do and have seen them myself from beach while I ve been fishing.Anyway mostly same species as we catch from the shore,Sharks and edibles, bait fishing close into shore over the sandbanks.Within 1km of the shore, also, they go further out in season to catch the Snook offshore.

try the total fishing site or the irish site and look for Gerry(tanglerat) as he has been to Nam and fished from the boat.
he had some good fish + plenty of different species.

Namibia
Hi Mike
It's several years since I last contacted Jeri Drake, and then by e-mail. He'd emigrated to Namibia and was starting to explore the fishing in Southern Angola, somewhat further north. He or his wife Sue, also a keen angler, might well be able to offer some advice. You could contact them through their web site - http://www.excalibur-tackle.com/.

Just picked up this recent observation by Terence Clark, one of the shore fishing guides, on another thread (different forum) - http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/i...ic=64417&st=20 - that might be relevant. I think it was entry 31.
DaveJust south of Walvisbay we are also experiencing the best run of “kob” we have had in years. Some of the UK clients have mentioned that the kob resembles a sea bass with similar feeding habits.
Fish are in the 8-16kg range and should be around for the duration of the spawning season.

Thanks Raptor
We have a veryy full itinerary including both shore and boat fishing on the Skeleton Coast and freshwater bass fishing in a dam near Windhoek.
We would not go all that way without having a go for the bronzies from the shore!
Thanks
Mike
