tasty rockling
deephooked a three bearded rockling once (bout 12 ounces). hated myself for it but instead of feeding the gulls i took it home and filleted the little beggar.
dipped the fillets in egg (skin left on ) then breadcrumbs, then shallow fried 3 mins each side.
tasted beautiful-just like cod, lovely and sweet.
rockling is a member of the cod family right enough so not really suprised at this. yum yum.

I tried them a few times because they tend to swallow the hook deeply. not too bad but the meat is not as firm as cod. good with batter and fried crisp...

to jamie donnely: no need to prep, although you could skin the fillets if desired...
the other oddity i tried was a conger which was not as nice. I think you could probably eat most seafish, but i would'nt fancy trying a short spined sea scorpion!!! now theres a challenge for someone... lol.
