D.A.B Rules
Dorset Angling Brigade Rules:
1= All meets will be 2 rods with a maximum of 4 hooks.
2= Catch, Measure and Release (Optional).
3= Verified Score Cards.
4= All fish measured in cm
5= All meets will be fished within a 400yrd radius.
6= No meets will be pegged.
7= Registration for the meets will take place 1 hour before the comp start time. Venues to be confirmed.
Local Rules for D.A.B. meets.
Mackerel and Weaver Fish Do Not count.
Anyone wishing to fish with the D.A.B or join in with our meets, do so at their own risk. No Responsibility Whatsoever will be taken by the organisers of the meets, to any loss, damage or injury however caused.
If you have a medical condition or disability, that may affect you on the beach, please tell the organiser of the meet and the person who you are fishing next too, so they can summons help.
These rules can be adopted by the S.C.C, (South Coast Comp).
If their is any rules you would like to be added or removed, please post and if we need too, we will have a poll.
We have planned to fish the 1st S.C.C/D.A.B meet by fishing with 1 member from each team, side by side, i.e D.A.B with Team Extreme with S.A.S ect.
This gives a neutral person to mark your scorecard, to save accusations.
Hope this helps.
Matt

Hi Matt,
can i just query a couple of things?
firstly, the measurements on the official measure and release cards are all in metric (cm), as are all official match rulers (the white ones with the red markings), perhaps the inches thing needs reconsidering?
secondly, all to fish within 400 yards, i think thats fine if it's safe to do so, but realistically you want about 15-20 yards between anglers, especially for those of us who are gonna be using a pendulum cast, i'd be rather wary of having an angler 10yrds away (30ft) when i have a 13ft rod, and use between a 6 and 10ft drop, it would mean the next angler is awfully close to a very fast weight !!
it may well not be a problem, but if we get a good number of anglers, we could be pretty close together, i'd like to suggest that the spread of the anglers is determined by how many show up, would that be prudent ?
cheers.

4= All fish measured in inch's.
Can this be changed to mm or cm? All well and good using imperial but it is no longer taught in schools and many people won't be able to measure in inches. Im lucky enough to be able to measure both seeing as I worked in the railway and they are stuck in a time warp but was taught metric at school and im 28 now.
Don't want to come across as picky but I do think that some people will only be able to measure to the inch.Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens.

4,no meets will be pegged
i dont know its only a friendly! perhaps have us pegged alternate?
good way to meet and have a chat with the oposing team mate
as oposed to grouping up in teams and chatting amongst our selves
we have to fraternise with the enemy! also handy for witnesing catcheskick snobbery out of sea fishing

i was thinking similar things, whilst it's not going to be pegged, it might be a good idea to sort some kind of simple system, where one member from each team has to be in each 'group' to ensure an even distribution. of course, there will be odd team numbers, but so long as there's at least one from each in each group, that'd be overcome, it's be quite east to work out, if there's 5 teams, and 5 groups, and one team has 15 angliers, then 3 members in each group, etc, no group size limits of course.

I think Matt meant not pegged (i.e no draw for positions) but alternate team members along the match venue.
I also think that D.A.B when hosting will publish the rules on the match card. Other hosts could do the same - if there were slight variations from host to host (such as whether Mackeral counted or not!) then these could be local variations/club rules. That the comp would abide by for each location - if we all fish the same rules on the day then it'll be fair.Last edited by lockstock; 01-02-2007 at 08:41.

personally i feel we'd be better to find a set of rules, and stick to them for the whole of the SCC's, we'd all know where we stand then,

yes i agree with huge, we should have one set of rules for the whole comp.
but the D.A.B ones sounds good to me. but the rule of fishing within 400 yards is silly. people need and want more space, also if we fish somewhere like brighton marina, people will be more than 400 yards apart!! lol
just a thought.
