Namibia
I just got back from a very busy week in Namibia. I am afraid for those that are going soon that the water was very warm and the wind from the North so the fishing was (by Namibian standards) very tough. However, we still caught (by our standards) plenty of fish and on Friday afternoon/Saturday the wind was moving to the South West and the sea was cooling down.
I would like to thank everyone on this forum who gave me advice to prepare us for our holiday. We had a fantastic time and I think after any holiday all you can ask is "would we go back again?". The answer is "yes - hopefully in April!".
If anyone would like further details I will happily provide them but we caught kob to 4kg, smoothhounds to 12kg, gully sharks to 25kg, sandsharks, brown rays, catfish, small steenbrass and a few other bits and pieces. I caught a garrick of 5.5kg (just shows how warm the water was) and after trouble getting them to feed my brother caught a bronzie of 35kg on the Friday evening and I caught a bronzie of 55kg literally minutes before we had to leave for the airport on Saturday.
If anyone is ever looking for a guide I thoroughly recommend Shane Milne of Aquanaut Tours - the best guide/skipper I have ever fished with. He pulled out all the stops for us.
A trip I will never forget and cannot wait to repeat
