Gambia - Shore Guides and Skippers

May I recommend Assan and Tom as your beach fishing guides. Two super lads with a 4x4. A few posters on here have used them with success. Their best fish of 2006 were a 50 kilo and 60 kilo guitarfish and they know the beaches better than anybody. Check previous posts and photos.
You can contact them at Tom and Assan, Tel: +2207781160. They are delighted to receive guests from this website. Just mention my name, Tony.

Is Assan the same chap that used to skipper One of Mark Longsters boats?

No, I know who you mean though as I had Assan as a Skipper last february. I was introduced to Tom and Assan through Mark longster for beach fishing, I believe they are freelance.

    Hi Glen
Have you had a chance to read these two particular threads - http://www.worldseafishing.com/forum...ad.php?t=23786 and http://www.worldseafishing.com/forum...ad.php?t=17510 - that identify how to add images to posts - either embedded in the post itself or stored separately on the 'photobucket' site?

Seeing this thread does anyone know what has happened to Assan, Marks skipper as I will be going again in the late Autumn and still belive he is the best.

I have always caught good fish when he has been my skipper

When I used Marks boat 2 weeks ago his skipper was Michael and he was OK but didn't want to try several methods when not catching.
Will be back in November and introducing him to some new methods.
Use the other people in the center and ask for Ali , he is brought in with his ORKNEY when they are busy , he,s good.

Hassan (Ninja), Omar, and Bala (Moses) are still working on Mark's old business (boats Tarpon 1,2 and 3).

The business runs out of Denton Bridge (old side) but is now owned by Steve.

I spent time with them in December - they are as good as ever.

Avoid going out with Steve though as his knowledge is not what it needs to be. One of the skippers was ill on one of the days we had booked and Steve skippered - waste of time and I would even venture to say that I would not feel safe with him out on the reefs.

Having said all that after 4 weeks total fishing in Gambia I would spend more time beach fishing and less time reef fishing when I next

I am really please to hear Nija is still there

I have been out with him many times and always caught well. It is not because of me but he ace fish finding skills.

Who is Steve, I have not heard his name before?

Also what has happened to Mark Longster? I am suprised he has stopped /given up / moved. Which is it?
