casting/fishing
lets please remember that these are two diffrent things all together the people who cast at tournaments dont do it because they want to go to the beach and try and wind out a bait 270 yds
they are doing it because its a diffrent sport all together. for fishing most will be using diffrent rods much slower reels.
i went for lessons on how to get a technique and cast safetly,i have not given up fishing but i now prefer to go casting rather than fishing ......my point is that anglers wishing to improve will benefit from lessons thats a fact
,,,,,,,,all tournament casters realise that they wont cast a baited rig as far as a lead there not stupid
,,so it should not become all about i can do this or that but for each person to enjoy his or her prefferd sport if your fishing go catch that big one
if your casting go for it get that new pb ...........
just my thoughts of course

whole heartedly agree excellent post
my last outing i did both and was well past my marks on my line so next event new pb fingers crossed
learning to cast correctly means that less effort is required to cast to where you want therefore hopefully making fishing less strenuous and no injuries trying to self or otherswhat about ye?

Agree with the sentiments but I think most people on here realise the difference between a tournament cast and a fishing cast.
Im trying to improve my casting to be able to put a bait further out into the gullies and tide runs on certain venues where a longer chuck is required. Whilst I enjoy practice casting and the satisfaction of sending the lead that little bit further, Im practising in order to help my fishing. I use my fishing rods and reels and perform exactly the same OTG cast that I use on the beach.
However, I do 100% respect and admire those who have the ability and dedication in order to throw a lead a hell of a long way.

I went to a casting club to improve my distances on the beach as some of the east anglian beaches give you a better chance if you can put a lead out further than the next guy.
Now I have a foot in both camps - I still fish BUT I also go casting as its an enjoyable day or afternoon out - lots of tips on casting AND fishing plus some fine comedians to liven up the proceedings.
At the end of the day its what ever takes your fancy - some guys fish, some guys cast & fish & some just cast - what ever floats your boat
Did I improve my distance - from 105m on a court to 170m in September - I will let you make up your own minds if you think its worth the effort over the summer. I know 170 over grass ISN'T 170 with bait on the beach but neither is 105m!
