Keeping fish for a few days after cooked

If I cook my fish and then put what I dont eat in the fridge how long can I keep it before having to throw it out?

It all depends on the temperature of your fridge and how long it was out before going back in there. If it was cooked, cooled quickly and bunged in a very cold fridge it would be good for a few days, not more than 5 though. If it was hanging about first and the fridge wasn't that cold, maybe only a day. If it looks iffy, it is!

Salmon, poached is best eaten cold. Cooked one evening, left somewhere cool overnight in the stock. Next morning lift the flesh off the bones.
Take what flesh you will eat in the next couple of days and put it in the fridge.
If it's a big fish the excess can be frozen. Defrosted in the fridge it's good eating.

If you fry white fish fillets (in crisp batter) the excess can be frozen and reheated
with your oven chips. Small frozen battered cod fillets take about 15-20 minutes to re-heat properly.

Might sound strange but I like fried fish cold. Usually some left in the fridge a day after a big 'fry-up'. I reckon it tastes much better.

I keep cooked mackerel in the fridge for no more than 3 days, fillet, grill, mash then mix with mayo and spread on toast, delicious
Tip: to cool the fish quickly put the cooked flesh in a waterproof sandwich bag, seal and put in some cold(iced is better) water, only takes 5 mins to cool and will definately be safe in the fridge then
