Sunfish
Was out in Red Bay this afternoon. Fishing was not very productive, caught 6 small pollock, 2 Coalies, 1 codling none much over the 1lb mark. Very limited amount of mackeral about as well could have been something to do with the stiff offshore wind that was making fishing particulary difficult. Was out off Annalong last Sunday and couldn't get the bait past the Mackeral as they appeared in massive shoals.
WhileI was making my way back to shore just off Cushendal and about a 1/2 mile out I noticed a large fin breaking the surface in front of me I slowed the boat down to have a look and discovered it was the fin of what I would describe as a sunfish about 3-4 foot in diametre. Very easy to see in the crystal clear water.
Is this fish native to Irish waters. It definately was a sunfish, as I have seen them on many a nature programme on telly. Any info would be appreciated.

Su fish
Hi there Bunty,
Have a look in the South West forum, and scroll back through the posts to 23/07/05 posted by REXY. Lost of sunfish stuff there.....
They're getting quite common round these waters these days.
Cheers
