Portmuck 15 Aug -Report
Afternoon Guys,
just a quickie to let you know that Portmuck was fishing well earlier this week.
We got there at 1800 for an 1845 high tide.
Thiings were slow to start but the night was rounded off well with 18 fish between 3 of us including - mackeral, lots of coalies, wrasse, pollack and some very big Doggies. We also got a pouting which is a first for us!!!!
We were using rag/squid/prawn and then chopped up the mackeral for bait which went down well.
The only negative part was the kids swimming in the harbour but this still provided some entertainment when things were slow.
Tight Lines!!!!

sized mackerel touching 3lb my best yet .it was a nice size the other lads said w

the seals turned up begging for food and i swear they frighten every fish in the sea away i saw no one catch any thing for good hour.then a small tap on the rod tip a small ballan wrasse, small to big of a word lol.one more mackerel and that was it for me not a great evening at all . of out tommorow same spot but trying

Alright cichlid?
some good nights - some bad nights mate!!!!
I've never fished down your neck of the woods but I have heard that there are a few good spots in Wexford - near Gorey for Beachcasting. My work colleague lives down that way and he has told me that there is a lot of Bass caught from the beach.... Ever been down that way?
There is a lot of talk on this site about Greenore Point - near Carlingford, I know this is a bit of a jaunt from Dublin but have you ever tried it? I think I'll give it a bash soon....
I'm heading off on hols tomorrow to Tunisia for two weeks. I have a t/scpoic beachcaster and a spinning rod packed and i'll get as many hours in as possible when I'm there.
Hoping to catch something different - I'll let you know how I get on.
Take it easy & Tight Lines......

Cheers Merv - I have often wanted to take trip round that way but the trek looks a bit daunting and i never have the right gear with me. I have however bought some new leadheads and jellies - so I'll pack a light rod for my next trip and give it a bash....
