    Fancy a Shad?

Whats your opinion on shads? Over the past two years i have come to love using shads for pollock, bass, cod and many other species. My current favourite range are the Storm wildeye casting shads, deadly for bass from the shore and pollock from the boat. I would like to hear other anglers views on shads, and to compare notes to see which brands are favourites. I recently purchased some Berkley Gulp shads which i look forward to testing over the coming months. The Calcuuta shads are also very effective from the boat. Please feel free to post any views you have on the shad here.
    Out for the crack-oof!

My favourites up to now have been the Storm Shads. I have has Bass to 11.5lb, Pollck to 12lb and Cod to 14 lb on them while wrecking. However I have managed to get a quantity of different shads and soft lures from Bass Pro in the States and am itching to give them a try. Have a look here at the range of soft lures you can get out there and it makes our limited range of lures look a little inadequate. I will be getting some more different ones in a couple of weeks to try as well. I now have well over 300 shads and soft lures of various types, it has almost become an obsession with me to try new things!
The Berkeley Gulp range are ok as well although I have not yet tried the Calcuttas.
I should be out wrecking for the first time this year on Thursday and will post the results on here.

How do you store your shads? What with certain jellies reacting with plastic.

Simple. Just pop them in some clingfilm before you put them in your box. They will not stick to clingfilm .Hope this helps.

Thats a good tip, i usually try and keep mine in the packaging they came in or in sandwich bags. Any particular favourite colours? I personally prefer the roach (black and silver) coloured shads, but have had a few pollock on the fire tiger and perch colours (yellow, orange, green stripes).

I have never had a problem with them melting as long as I only keep Shads in one box, jellies in another and redgills in another. The first time I tried them I put them all in one box, next trip out all I had was a gooey mess
