using frozen baits
Hi, just wondered what is best when using frozen mack fillets. is it better to defrost them of use straight from freezer?..

simply - either.
if your using small chunks then they will defrost in the water, but defrosting before makes it easier to get on the hook2008 : 19, 2009 : 16, 2010 : 13, 2011 : 5 (too far from the sea), 2012 : 9
whiting, doggie, codling, corkwing, dab, plaice, bass, pollack, huss
ain't that a kick in the crotch

doesnt affect the fish, just defrosted is easier to use/put on the hook.

defrost but keep out of the sun. i keep all my frozen bait in a cool bag and just take what i need out 15 mins before i need it.

although defrosted is easier to put on the hook, it is also easier to fly off the hook if casting. If casting (and not using a clipped-down rig or something like a "Dvice") then put on frozen - they will thaw very quickly indeed after splashdown.

one word(s), coolbag or icebox..... i tend to stick in a £1 bag of ice, carry your lunch, few beers, use it for bait etc etc...just throw everything back in to take home
