Help with the Shoreham West Arm bin
The S.A.S as you know have managed to get the port authority to put a bin on the West Arm and in future they will be putting another two bins on there. The bin idea is working well however it does need to be emptied by us and it seems that it gets filled to the brim two days from being emptied. Are there any members who would be happy to help empty the bin from time to time and as I mentioned it will need to be emptied every two/three days, we are looking to get some bags that fit the wheelie bin at some point and this will make the chore that little bit easier. A good pair of gardening gloves is a good idea, the bags of rubbish can be left next to the bins in the car park and the council will take them from there. Any takers?.
Cheers

Living in Worthing and working in London means my visits to the arm are infrequent but happy to help when I do go. As it happens, I fished it this morning but luckily the bin was only half full as I had no gloves and no bin liners - originally planned to fish the beach but decided on the arm as a last second whim. Should've fished the beach because the arm was utterly useless.

Not so Jamie - have had loads of decent fish from it over the years. I was surprised that there were not wall to wall mackerel today as water conditions were perfect. Apart from my gar, I saw two mackerel along the whole arm and there quite a few fishing today. Maybe the smallish tide and a load of fresh water coming down the river could have made a difference. The survey vessel started working about an hour after high tide. There were spider crabs about too and I pulled in hookless snoods two or three times.
Tell you what - the Solstice comp will be a lottery if it stays like this.

if your gonna empty the bins use a litter picker http://www.somerset-bin-store.co.uk/.../parr-bin2.jpg ,it will take you a bit longer but its safer than using gloves alone and it will protect you from needles ,glass and dog siht lol .

hi mr t
will always empty the bin(s) when i fish the arm and so will the other two Herbert's that often accompany me
you have done sterling work my man and we should be proud of you for upholding true SAS dedication
as we all know the arm will turn into tinsel town soon so the pressure on the solitary bin is going to be immense so lets hope some of its kin arrive soon .
i hope to get a chance to fish the arm a week Saturday (evening ) to practice my blanking strategy before the comp because if i am going to blank i intend to do it in style and just to prep my self i bought my tape measure today and got it home and guess what it wasn't marked with anything BLANK both sides!!!!!!!!!! all i need now is to take my landing net (the big one) and spend all the shopping money on bait and i reckon Ive got it crackedLIVE FISH (almost) Copyright© Shoreham Angling Squad 2007
