Dominican Republic
Hi Steve
If you use the SEARCH facility in this forum you'll find a range of previous posts about the island and its fishing. In fact there's even one forum member, Mike Fisher, who runs a charter business on the island - his web site, with catch reports, is on this url - http://www.mikesmarina.info/. But I guess like any number they tend not to visit this forum frequently so, if you get no further replies, it might be worth PM-ing indivduals like Mike or those that have holiday-ed on the island.
Just one point remember September is right in the middle of hurricane season. So you may find, if one passes within a couple of hundred miles of the island, the area can be unfishable for several days.

hi Steve,
bring your fishing gear for shore fishing.
fly or spinning, it doesn't matter, what ever you prefer.
i am operating on the very far east, but i had several clients been fishing from shore in Cabarete, Sosua and the Playa Dorada(a bit more crowded) successfully.
for offshore charter sept is still blue marlin season but like Dave(PJack) mentioned, the weather is unpredictable more than a 3-5 days ahead during hirricane season.
have a great one and let me know what you got from shore, of course i appreciate to get pics too.
Dave, you're right, i am not every day on the board, mostly i take the weekends to join the chats on the boards, during the week i only answer on direct threads i got by e-mail notification.
i am bringing the first new boat in this weekend.
have fun
Mike

hi steve went to playa dorada bout 10 years ago. be careful with charters we went out and got ripped off!! there is some small ponds dotted about the complex, asked an english guy who was fishing 1 how he was gettin on reply was "loads of bites but keep biting me off" so if you fancy a go and your still allowed to fish them then take some pike traces [wire] dont think fish that big but got teeth!!!
