Start up advice please
Hi Guys,
I am considering taking up beach fishing again after having to quit in the early 80's thru lack of time and a very painfull back.
As things have moved on considerably since then I would appreciate any advice on certain subjects.
Are the venues of Sandgate Esplanade, Dover piers and breakwater, Dungeness (blowhole) and Dengemarsh still available.
I used to fish with a multiplier (Mitchell 602 I think) but am now considering a fixed spool - less birdsnests as I have probably lost the casting knack.
While perusuing ebay for rods I notice some now state for multipliers only - Why.
What is a standard rod as I do not understand "reverse taper" and the such like.
Back then there was a device known as "Don's anti - lash" is it still available as it was first class at preventing casting over runs.
Whats the current price on Lug - Dungy and blow and do the imitation baits now available compare.
Many thanks for any possible advice or hints.

Hi - the bottom guide on a rod rung for a fixed spool is much bigger to accomodate the fact that when a fixed spool is mounted on a rod the spool is further away from the rod than it is with a multiplier. A multiplier reel can be used on a fixed spool rung rod but not visa versa. Hope this makes sense.

Hi Bud.
Best thing I can tell you is have a chat at your local tackle shop or visit some of the bigger shops on-line.
Veals and Gerry`s of Morecambe are a couple of the better ones although I`m sure people will add others as the thread develops.
Also,,have a good look round this site,,,the guides on the left of this page,,,white on blue,,have some excelent info.
Welcometo W.S.F.bud and if you need any more help,,just ask!!
All the very best,
Terry F.

Although I have never used these myself they have been discussed at length in a number of threads over the past couple of months and the general consensus is that fresh bait is usually far better.
