Hello from Guernsey
Like Jambo - Feel free to contact me for any info you need on info/pointers on Guernsey. I'm not the islands best fisher but I'm having a good year.
Catches over the past couple of months:
Bass (see general post Autumn starts with a bang)
Sole
Wrasse
Red Bream
Black Bream
Red Mullet
Pollack
Mackeral
Scad
Conger
Reports at the moment are alot of Red Mullet off the harbour, Black bream everywhere with red mixed in, extra large gilt head bream being caught east coast and bass around as always!
Competition wise the second and third rounds of the specimen hunt are the at the end of October and start of November.
and breaking news today is that the boat Bass record has just been broken!

what a quality fish. did he have to kill it to claim the record? it would be a shame if he did. fish that size, should be returned. (in my opinion). is there any good shore marks, that has clean bottom, that produces good daytime / early evening fishing? im considering a day trip very soon. any cod marks at all? cheers matt

i agree with matt, if i caught a fish that size it would definatly go back, i would weight it, take a few pics and forget about claiming the record because i would rather see it swim away than see my name on abit of paper next to the weight of a dead fish.
to see it caught by a weymouth lad on a weymouth boat is fantastic!

Hi Chesilmaster
There is plenty of marks to fish all within walking distance of the harbour. We don't really get cod here from the shore although there are plenty over the wrecks. I'm thinking of trying when it's coldest in Feb to see if there are any?
If your looking for an easy catch of bream anywhere from the lighthouse south should produce and a good chance of some bass. My favourite is soldiers which almost guarantees a large bream but it only happens two hours before high tide!. All the marks are on this site if interested..http://www.fishing-guernsey.co.uk.
As a once off only for you e-mail me details and I'll send you over len le page's book free of charge. (e-mail is guern211:yahoo.com). For anyone else thinking of sending junk mail I already get over 200 a day please don't bother!!
If your thinking of a trip over then the second round of the specimen hunt is on over 28 to 30 Oct. £8 to enter and a £1,000 prize for breaking a record. (good chance if you try for the LSdoggies).
Let me know when your coming and I'll let you know where and whats catching!
