Chieftain trip 2008
...book early !
Now then mods, or MOD - we know you are not happy unless you move at least 10 posts a day, but please leave this post here in the NW shore forum - yes I know its about boats and I know Chieftain is based in Whitby, ie NE, but I am looking to see what interest there may be in booking a trip on this boat, from us NW lads, first. Not that I have anything against anybody else from WSF joining in, and I would open it up to allcomers if we havent a full charter later - just that many of us have fished together before so lets keep it a NW affair initially - PLEASE.
Right - the trip - 36 hours- sets off teatime, sails thru the night while you snore away in your bunk. Wake up to start fishing up to 90 miles out at 5am, fish thru til as late as 9pm, followed by a nice cosy bunk and much deserved kip back to dock at 6am the following morning. All food and drink (except booze) included. Fishing with pirks, hokkais, shads, bait if you want. I finally got out with them after 2 years of being weathered off at the start of the month. To say expectations were running high was an understatement- recent reports of 12 anglers walking off with 150 stone of fillets somewhat whetted the appetite. We didnt do anything like that well - I had maybe 2 stone of fillets but the fantastic potential is crystal clear if conditions are favorable. I tried to look up their website and post links to gallery pics and have failed so far but shall keep trying. There are many great pics on their site, incl one of one guy who dropped down 4 hooks and came up with 4 cod- 2 @ 6-8lb, the others both 20's!
Cost will be around £200, with 50% deposit on booking - date to be decided.

TonyScaff and Paulsp have also indicated interest. Even if we cant fill the 12 places it can still be a trip with a good bunch of us. Tony we'll have to work on Frank when he gets back from his jollies, but the vibes he sends out are a bit anti-Chieftain, methinks, not sure why.
Follow link below to stackloads of mouthwatering piccies - from previous years mainly - new owners dont seem as computer literate.

It suits me to do a weekend - as it costs me a bomb to take time off work - but sailing is likely to be Fri 6pm so we're gonna have to be leaving work Fri lunchtime.
Looks like it's a goer so I'll contact them and start looking for some datesOutspoken, often : wrong NEVER

Deposit of about £100pp will be required to secure place within next couple of weeks to secure booking

OK lads Chieftain is booked for a 36 hour trip from 6pm sail Friday 9th May returning 6 am Sunday 11th. 12 places up for grabs, cost £200with 50% deposit in cheque form to me, balance payable in cash on the boat.
Shall pm all those that have indicated interest initially (as above), any more takers suggest you pm me. Any questions just ask.
I shall let this run for 2 weeks and deposits must be received in that time.
If we cannot get a full charter up it will be left to Chieftain to fill any spare places.
In the event you pay your deposit and are then unable to attend, it is possible there may be a short list of disappointed parties wishing to go from whom you can reclaim your deposit, but any cancellation will ultimately be your responsibility and potentially at your expense. (sorry but its a pricey trip and I have no intention of covering it)
cheers
