Rnli Sos Day
how about arranging a meet to help raise some funds for this great cause .
The RNLI's annual SOS Day on Friday 25 January is going to be bigger and better than ever!Saving lives is what the RNLI does and, because it's a charity, it needs people like you to help.
There are endless ways to support SOS day - organise a sporting event, a cake sale, party night, car wash... the list goes on. Why not give it an SOS theme like 'Slurp our Soup', 'Sponsor Our Sports' or 'Sing Our Songs' and really have some fun?
All the money you raise from your SOS event will help the RNLI's volunteer lifeboat crew members and lifeguards save even more lives. All you have to do to take part is go to http://www.rnli.org.uk/sos or call 0845 787 4999 and the RNLI will send you a FREE fundraising pack - it couldn't be easier!

Agree, although not many of us of had the need for their services, theyll risk all for us.
I have had a close one once and as wrong as it is it takes something like that to wake you up to what the risk and donate.
How about a WSF area Christmas get together, auctions, paid dares gets a laugh (nothing too dangerous or kinky), set entry fee (best offers accepted but dont offer £2.00 and pull up in a Merc) etc, etc should raise a few £.

The most effective way to support the RNLI is join as a member.
I'm an offshore member as I use kayaks, but you can just join at a lower fee to be a shore member.

Count me in, a great idea. I will try to rope some of the tackle dealers in and how about some of the Charter Skippers

Have been for the past 30 years now and will do everything to try to raise extra income for them as I have spent a lot of time afloat both pleasure and commercial. And also worked as an auxiliary vessel to tow vessels that were to large for our local RIBs to tow back to shore as my own boat was 48ft and 23 tons and also picked up a kayak 15 miles off shore that could not paddle back against the tide to the amusement of the angling party that I had on board.
And also its not a great amount of fun being got out of bed at 1am to go to look for some fool in a force 8-9 N/EASTERLY and tow them home .

Hi Alan,
It would be an idea to have a boat comp in the Crouch,I am sure one or two of the tackle dealers would donate some gear for such a good cause.
Could have the weigh in at Wallasea, and end the day in the bar.
It would have to be this side of xmas cos of those bloody sprats!
Regards Ray
