    pike yesterday

went up my local ponds yday for a days piking with 2 others. had a pike of around 9lb straightaway on freelined joey. my uncle the lost a fish, andover the day i managed to lose 4 more until my uncle had 2 in a row on live perch of about 8lbs.
never had such an unlucky day where they all spat the hooks. they were very finicky too, probs because of the easterly wind. managed a modest bag of perch 2 for livebait, best perch 1lb, he went straight back!!!

same way as always, never usually have any probs. with livelies i put 1 thru top lip and 1 thru the dorsal root, with macky etc i mount the hooks from the tail..

id rather lose em than hook em from the head end and result in deephooking
