    biggest freshwater fish in uk?

    i was just thinking that in the sea the biggest fish in is PROBALLY the shark in the uk but in freshwater what would it be reports of 100lb salmon not long ago, then theres 60lb plus carp and catfish and always the rare sturgeon so whats your foughts

    to realistically catch it would be a catfish.a remote chance of catching though would be a sturgeon.
    ok,this is'nt really a fish and would'nt want to catch one,but porpoise come a fair way up the severn

    the fish you mentioned are probably the biggest, but i reckon the barbel is one of the most beautiful and hardest fighting fish.

    This is a Wye salmon that was found dead back in the '30,s. It was estimated at 75 lb.
    Time spent in recconnaisance is seldom wasted........

    thats one big kipper but head doesnt look that salmon like
    2011 species

    they do fight well,but a river carp can put in a good account of itself

    I don't think either of those are actually native. In any case, I'm pretty sure sturgeon would be our largest freshwater fish, native or otherwise. Here's an account of the record-breaking 388-pounder that was caught on the Towy in 1933! Shame that there aren't many of them about these days...
