SSF meet results/report, seaford 27th daytime meet

Hi all,

Firstly thanks for coming along and hope you all had a good day. All in all there were 16 of us. 8 weighed in and results as follows

1st Craig Ide (Ideyboy) with 2 Flounders for 1lb 12 1/2 oz
2nd John Nicholas (ugly Johnny) 2 Flounders for 1lb 8oz
3rd Glenn Arnold (arnoldteamssf) 1 Flounder 1 Plaice for 1lb 1 1/2 oz
4th Martin (Madonfishing) 1 Flounder for 1lb 1oz
5th Vic (Vicfishier) 1 Flounder for 13 1/2 oz

Heaviest Flat: was shared between me and Martin with two 1lb 1oz Flounders. Both would have been bigger but they had spawned.

Heaviest Round: Shared between Sam and my old man with 3 1/2 oz Rockling each.

Top Pairs: me and Simon Pickles.

All in all a good days fishing and although there werent as many fish as we would have hoped, the bright conditions didnt really help. There were other species caught including shooly bass, whiting, bullheads, dabs and pout but mostly undersize.

Action seemed to start quickly with me having my two Flounders in the first hour and our area seemed to produce most flounders in this time as this was when me, glenn and vic landed ours (approx 4 hours befoe ht). Things slowed until high tide which bought some fish on and despite Johns late arrival he managed to sneak second place with 2 Flounders at very close range nearer ht. Most productive baits for the flounders seemed to be kingrag but glenn, having put in the effort, caught his fish on whites and managed 7 species although only 2 sizeable fish. Everyone left with a prize of some form and i hope everyone had a good day.

we did stay on after the match and fish for an hour or so as it got dark and action seemed to pick up with a fish a cast but mostly small undersize fish except glenns whiting and my flounder last cast

I have some video footage and will add a link to this in the next day or so when i have put it on my pc. I have also added a pic of our mine glenn and johns catches. Thanks to Topcat and Skizz from here who also came along

Thanks again and let the banter begin...

I didnt intend to fish it but the competitive side of me took over and i couldnt resist being involved in the match so i picked up some bait on the way and wet my line, its a good start to 2008!.

Shame you couldnt be there but hopefully see you at the next one.

Madonfishing, thanks for coming and hopeful you enjoyed your self with that cracking flounder which put up a decent scrap. meet up soon to wet another line

Very well done to Craig on yet another win in these meets. He was also casting about 70 yards when I looked over so only 5 yards short of his maximum anyway.

I didn't bother the scorers with my 7.5 Inch Rockling and my hard dug fresh out black lug was thrashed by king rag & whites for the flounders. Ih well, next time.

75 yards maximum, cheecky git its nearer 80 lol!. last time i invite you lol. The back was definately feeling easier then prev sessions which was good but still a bit achey so will be a while before im back casting properly if there was ever such a thing. In all seriousness though, cheers for coming and we did ok with our pairs thing anyway. Unlucky with the freshouts, its often the way when you spend ages getting bait only to find that shop bought bait is what the fish want on that day, i garauntee that if you had only got rag it would be freshout lug that was catching!

I think vics flounder was on lug and squid but i think overall the rag and whites were slightly more productive for them on this occasion.
