The 2nd All England Squid Championships....

....is to be held on Sunday 26th April. Meeting initially at 9 a.m. for a 10 a.m. start, five hour competition.. Final meeting and fishing destination to be decided nearer the time (dependant on numbers wishing to fish) but it will be on the marina. Coloured water will cause postponement.
1 rod only - I think there will be too many of us to fish a second rod for other species, and besides, this is a SERIOUS competition......
Max 2 Jigs
Entrance £5 plus your marina ticket, which will be issued by the marina warden on the day. The total entrance raised will be walked to the RLNI donations shop on the marina and a receipt recieved which will be published.
Apart from that, no rules. Prizes will again this year be from the very generous donations of TRONIX who have also supplied some stunning trophies, and "The Tackle Box", the marina's resident tackle shop. I would point out this is far more about fun and catching squid than walking away with serious prizes. ALL CEPHALODS COUNT - so dont throw back your cuttles. We will also attempt to implement AndyS most excellent idea of a post match barbecue, to show you how good freshly caught squid is to eat!
The most important thing I need from you guys is an acknowledgement of who is likely to attend, as this will affect where we end up fishing.
Currently there are just a few squid around, but with three weeks to go I feel confident there will be good numbers by the 26th.
So,please put your name down if you are coming!!

Sorry about that, but the next set of springs afterwards I wont be here, and as the squid have turned up three weeks earlier than last year, any later and they might have gone already. I might be able to shift it to the Saturday at a push. How many of the gar match anglers would have fished the squid comp if it didnt clash? Hands up......

I think i may be able to justify some fishing that weekend, its my bday on the sat! Will be Livefish on friday night followed by either Squid or Garfish, neither of which i've ever caught! Can someone give a rundown of what a person would need to fish for squid as i'm sure i wont be the only one yet to pop my cherry!
