Exactly what I was on about!

Since this thread started, some anglers on here have said "share information with other anglers" However, on the main forum, people have asked for marks to fish (Anglesey) and no advice has been given or shared by those same anglers! Hmmmmm!

I think it would be better if someone asks for some marks cos they are new to the area to send them a private message so that the information is not out there for all. I have a few favorites that I would share with a few, but not everyone as I can't stand it when I have planned for a specific mark, travelled miles to get there to find it full to capacity cos it has been made public on the forum. I end up p*****d off and frustrated that another quiet place to enjoy is now full of litter and worse and has been fished out.

It got so bad over the last few years we have bought a boat and now I have to learn a new way to fish, and yes, I would quite like to know where there are some boat marks but understand the reluctance of others to give info away. I will just have to do what I used to do, read books, watch dvd's, look at the charts and work it out for myself. So far, not doing too badly.

For the tourists, all I would ask is that they show a bit of respect and restraint too. I wish that there would be signs showing the minimum landing size for all species at the car parking area of the most popular marks and a limit to the amount of fish people can take. I know humans are fighting their own nature but how many bags of mackerel does one person need?

There we are, I'm getting off my soapbox now!

Happy fishing

Shirley

Taken from swelleys cymran report

What joe didn't mention was the amount of ****e at the ranges, there
was, no exaggeration, a dozen sandeel packets, several maccy packets,
empty cans and bottles, and even unused disposable bbq's, rags, it
was an absolute disgrace and really did **** me off.
I've put up some good catch reports from this place, which i feel have
contributed to this happening.
I don't think it's regular posters on forums but lurkers, people who
contribute nothing to forums and just make the odd post to stop
bieng a " zero poster ".
So from now on i'm not giving exact locations in my reports, travelled
anglers will work it out from the pictures, regular posters can p.m.
me, thats my rant over.

Hi folks,
I have been reading this thread with great interest. Unfortunately there are those who seem to have complete disregard for the environment and others who use the beaches and/or rock marks. I'm afraid that whatever we say and however much we go on about it these sort of people just don't give a damn.
My wife and I, on more than one occasion have cleaned up mess and litter left by others.
They know who they are but apparently just don't care (unfortunately).

Its a balance isn't it. Us landlocked folk need to plan fishing trips and its great to share info with each other to find out where to fish/park/camp/stay etc as other wise you blindly wander about like a muppet for a couple days just losing tackle and catching nothing!

I think that if you have a place you've found where only 1 or 2 people can fish and you've tracked it down after loads of searching you'd be mad to pass on the details..but if its a reasonably large venue and people want to know how its fishing and where to go etc then thats a legit posting topic. you aint gonna breach the official secrets act by saying what caught at Colwyn Bay

maybe the WSF site should put a footnote on every thread saying take your cr@p home with you.

Oh..and people taking hundreds of mackeral..whats that about? bet most languish in the freezer for ages then get chucked away..not that they are endangered, but its just wasteful

I agree with you fully on that. The more commonly known spots should be reported on regularly and people who are on limited time can visit them knowing what to expect for the fishing.

But I believe the other spots should stay "secret" in the sense that if people wish to take things further and find new, less populated fishing marks, it should be done the hard way by using a map and your own initiative talking to people you have a mutual respect with that you might see on your travels and a good bit of the old trial and error.

I do think that it would be lazy and even rude for someone to expect other people who have put hard work in finding new marks to just give the information away without any kind of effort being put in. Popular well known marks are excluded however, as these are places most people know and they can fish well, but can also suffer from problems such as litter and being crammed with other people.

I suppose its sea fishing here is whatever you want to make of it.

Dylan
