Hi guys, I don't understand how it could possibly be anything to do with the council on many of the north wales sea fishing marks that are on private land.
Its only really the obvious public beaches the council cover not all the other smaller beaches/coves and rock marks isn't it?

So if a mark on private land say somewhere like ty croes has a litter problem (only using that as an example!), it is then the council who should clean it up?
I am concerned with that idea to be honest. I am just going to sort my own marks out with a few bags and a tiny bit of graft. I cannot see the council sorting things too quickly.
Not to say they cannot be a help.

I can only gather from what ive been told that the councils work with various agencies..including maritime..coastal paths etc..it is on this basis that they are prepared to help.No you are correct they wont clean up....lilypond was agreed as a starting point to be a mark to monitor
They will erect signs they will when possible warden it..and will issue fines to the people they catch..
And as you say some is private land...much easier to stop access to !!
Hence the Wildlife uk campaign that recieves photographic evidence from around the uk and appeals direct to landowners for help stopping the dropping of vast amounts of litter..

this is a problem i have been trying to sort out at porthcawl pier i have written to the local town council offered to put a steel bin out there at my own personnal expence, they havnt even acknowledged my letter,i fish there with my son 3 to 4 times a week and everytime we go there is always loads of rubbish there only last night we fished there ,cleaned up before we left ,two big bags of rubbish , line, bait packaging, beer cans ,we left it reasonably clean ,if i could have hosed the area down i would have there is a tap there but guess what its been superglued so the council have turned water off,we cant blame the council they have tried but to no avail as you say it is the minority of brain dead dimwits and no matter what we do to keep a place clean they will make a mess and donot care about the repurcussions they will just move on to the next venue

My local coarse fishing club has a rule that an angler is responsible for litter on his/her peg whether or not they have dropped it. You must pick up all trash before you start fishing or risk being hauled before the commitee if you are caught on a littered peg.
Not that this would work for sea angling of course. Not many of us are in clubs for a start. The only option is for us to pick it up ourselves. Though on some marks I know this can take a long time, increase your load on the walk back and is very dispiriting when you return to find its just the same.

Although it's not the same at all (it's vaguely similiar). When I first took up golf an old fella joined me for nine holes once. He said that every time he walked on a green he repaired his own pitch mark (which is the dent a ball leaves when it lands on the green) AND two others. He said if everyone did that then every green would be perfect like Augusta. Of course just like in fishing their are lazy tosspot golfers who don't but I always repair three pitchmarks on every green if I can and like he said if everyone did it we'd have perfect greens.
For the same vaguely similiar reason I always put an extra carrier bags in my rucksack and if I fill it with crap eejits leave behind them then I've every right to feel superior to the tosspots who give the rest of us a bad name. Rant over.

why oh why do these idiots insist on just dropping bait wrapper tackle rappers , plastic bottles , beer tins, disposable aluminium barbi , NOT disposable if thrown in the sea it will never go away in our liftimes!!
when i get to a venue ie; whitebeach , benlech for example i choose a spot
and burn any litter i find , i get some really funny looks from other anglers all ready there ,and i make loud comments when clearing up other peoples rubbish, it ony takes 5 mins to get a little fire going , i allways carry a few old news papers , magazines and use them as bait chopping boards(top tip here!) and these can be burnt just before you leave , so no rancid bait choppig areas to attract hordes of anoying flies , to bug the next angler there! i totaly agree with you mate, these people wont change there ways
Would they have a family picnic in city park ,and just leave all the rubish ,
i dont think so!!.......so why is this not practised when fishing , you NEVER see this Behaviour with coarse or river anglers.........
so why leave all this crap behind when sea fishing..... ok i have said my peace
spikydog ......barking very loud!!!
