Holes Bay 20/11/09 - back on the search for the elusive flounder

After having given up hope of catching at my usual spot, i thought id try Holes Bay for a change. The bloke at the local tackle shop said it had beeen fishing early this year and a friend had 2 days down there this week and both times had flonder up to just over 2lb.

Iv only ever fished there in the summer as a kid for bass and know full well that this spot is usually a quality and apposed to quantity spot.

Anyway, i got there at about 7ish and fished through until just before 11pm with only a handfull or small bass and a poxy eel to show for it. The eel, id have put money on it being a flounder the way it was showing on the rod tip. Bloody rubbish.

I think il try here for a day time through dark session though early next week, see what doesnt want to be caught then!

P.S if you were the forum member that was fishing just down from me that come over at the end...HI

Fished Holes Bay Road last night ( Friday ) and had a good night. Parked opposite the Merc garage and fished 1900 - 2230.

Conditions - light breeze and clear with HW just after 2200.

Caught 3 flounders all sizeable including one first cast and a couple of checkers. Fishing died off as the HW approached.

How is it 2 rods out with same rigs and bait yet it was the same rod that caught all the fish?

iv often wondered why that happens!

well done with the flounder there, were they good sizes? i also found that nothing happened as high water approached.

i ended up fishing 3 rods, i always keep a carp rod in my holdall for harbour fishing so set that up and fishing real close. I had some cracking bites but nothing hooked!
