Smile Dunwich 5/12/09 whiting city

started: 18.30
finished: 23.15
high tide: 23.30 ish
bait: lug/blacks squid
weather: light southerly with plenty of rain
caught: whiting whiting and more whiting

hi all

got a last minute pass from her who must be obeyed so no sooner said than rods in the car and gone

did fancy hopton but knew i wouldn,t get the spot i wanted so went for dunny instead, just missed the start of the rain and managed to get my buddy set up before it came down
first cast saw a treble shot of whiting and to be honest thats how the whole evening went at least a fish a cast quite often a double shot coming in, there was no weed at all and wind was quite light they were that greedy that even the 6/0 pennels i had loaded with blacks and squid couldn,t get thru em and caught loads with that rig as well

had made a few of the new gemini splashdown leads to try out this week and they got there first trial run last night and performed really well and cast a treat i have to say so big thumbs up here for them

biggest fish of the night was a 41cm specimen (whiting of course) and overall the stamp of fish were in really good condition. in total i landed 38 of the buggers and called it a night after 23.20
can you guess what we,ve got for tea 2nite lol

cheers

nice report. I dont mind catching whiting if they are a decent size and fill in the time while waiting for mr cod. Only had one cod from dunny this season and that was 3 weeks ago, not as good as last season yet. Seems to have got a lot shallower but there is a nice gulley at distance. Hope to be there next weekend as its one of my favourite spots. Yum yum is it fishcakes. All the best creaky
