Garmin Software

Hi, I have a 451s Chart plotter finder combo unit. I want to add a load of new waypoints (marks) that I have acquired. Is there software you can load onto a pc that allows you to do this and then upload to the plotter or do you have to add direct to the plotter? Also on the same subject is there a cable you can use to plug the plotter into the pc as I keep having to go down to my boat every time I want to update the software or just play with the plotter to get used to the functions?

Not sure about the software but i think the only way you can update the plotter is with a compact flash card.

Didn't you get MapSource or waypoint software with your unit?

You can download waypoints to a SD card along with updates:

Garmin Homeport software allows you to do this using your SD card.
Download it from garmin about £22.00 i think

Buy as a download from the Garmin site. You can then bring your SD cards home, look at yourTracks and Waypoints, edit them, add names and notes with your keyboard, and upload them back.
