Not a fish ID; but.......

Ok firstly i know this aint a fish.
Secondly; it was not caught on rod and line.
Mosy of you guys know i'm a fishermen; well today we were hauling monkfish nets about 20 miles out to sea when this came up through the net hauler, it had wrapped itself up in the net.
It looks like something out of X-files for sure.
First i thaught it was a hagfish, but then saw it was flat. It had no real visable eyes or mouth.
After thaught, i keep thinking nematode worm - dont know why or where i got that from.
Anyone got any ideas? - PLEASE??

After initially wriggling round frantically for a couple of minuites; it played dead. After taking a couple of (pwp) photos with my phone, i scooped it up with the trusty shovel and flipped it over the side. It proptly swam away in an eel or snake type fashion.

Could be a type of Ribbon Worm, - "soft-bodied, smooth amd slimy animals usually having elongated cylindrical or flattened shape - vigorous hunters, but also eat carrion - most live on the sea bed, many swim well" - most likely 'Tubulanus Annulatus' - (honest, that's it's real name) - "up to 750mm long with broad rounded head - no eyes visible - under stones or in sand and mud - intertidal and offshore - North Sea and Atlantic coasts - the largest of several similar species"
Though I could be WAY off!
