Ok rod. You won't break any casting records with it, but for general clean ground fishing from beach or pier it will suffice. Not a rock or heavy ground rod, quite through action, probably a reasonable rod to start off with. Not expensive neither. As for bite detection, the whole rod wobbles!

i'm wanting a rod for beach fishing. casting up to 100 yards in a big sea. i'm not paying century prices for this rod as i mostly fish rougher ground. any other rod's that would do the job at around the same price?

I would recomend you go for the TDSS you can pick them up for 90, they are alot better.

The TDSB range is yet to come down in price a bit more.

I would agree with Tozer, I have a TDSS120FA nice rod not to bad for bite detection and not bad to cast with, its better than the sand storm.

Take a look at the Abu Conolon for fishing in a big sea. Not a rock rod but very good for the money when it comes to mixed ground and big seas. You can get them from Poindestres for 117, or go for a Suveran for 130.

I used to have a Conolon as my spare rod but now have the Suveran XP. It casts very well and has a firm tip. Again very good for mixed ground.
