:mad2: Has anyone had spool rubbing on the cage ? , kinda hoping with the thicker spool spindle , bullet and rigid cage this would be a thing of the past by now , might just as well bought an abu and saved a hundred quid:mad2::(

Speak to Akios as could be faulty one they do run close interface between them though
But how much are we talking about?
    Try reseating side plates.
How old is it/did you get new?
You can get corrosion on handle end under plate as two parts

Thanks for your quick response , Tis new, I exchanged it for a 666 , bit too much line on that ,first two casts were a bit noisy , and I smelt burning , anyhoo nothing unlike the norm with 65 abus which ive had loads of in the past , just waited for them to literally wear in , really didnt expect it to happen with this though ,about 25% of both sides have worn so both sides woud have to be misaligned I suppose

Hmm, just tried pushing the thumb down on the spool and could feel a bit of contact , so loosened the side plates off and pushed them away from where they where contacting , re tightened and seems ok, thanks for that, will give it another go tomoz , can feel a mod comng on here , shoulders, threaded nuts on cage pins, oversize holes on side plates so you can align them perfectly , food for thought

Looks like it was the left sideplate oo alignment after all, been nice and quiet today, so I suppose the lesson is , new reel, spool up, have a push down on the spool from various angles, if no rubbing felt good to go, if not loosen of the plates and re align , shouldnt have to do this tbh , BUT I suppose its worth cheking if you do a total strip and rebuild, cheers TM
