Was just reading in sea angler mag about using banana or banana essence as bait, sounds stupid but apprently contains chemicals simular to female fish's phermones and attracts fish.

Anyone ever given this a try? Would feel a bit silly fishing with a banana but i guess if it works!

I have seen a pollock caught on a thin strip of banana skin. it was on a club boat so several witnesses. The strip was hooked on a leadhead.

intresting, if a piece of shiny foil can catch fish theres no reason why it wouldnt i guess.

Might have to give it a try on next fishing trip

:fishing1: I've caught bass and mullet on banana, fish will eat almost anything if they're hungry. :fishing1:

but the sea fish caught on banana have been caught on banana skin, a yellow lure in fact. bet you won't catch one on the fruit. it's hard enough with lug/squid/mussel/mackerel/rag/ etc, all natural sea food.
    or have I slipped up?

Lol well I had to laugh reading this but after reading up about the pheromones of fish and the chemical composition of the banana skin they are exactly the same. So yeah I could understand this working, same as WD40 main ingredient? You guessed it fish oil. But I would recommend WD40 as Its quite poisonous

you might be better off eating the banana giving you an extra energy boost to dig some proper bait.

i`ve been trying to visualise Brighton Marina packed full of people [as usual] all casting out with pennelled bananas on their rigs, monty pythons or what, methinks bananas should only be used at great depth in the porn industry !!!!!!
