I also caught a couple of Shannies and a Five Bearded Rockling but on downloading photos I find that the pics are so overexposed that nothing can be seen.
Several rude words have been said but they are still unreadable, it's a good job that they were not rare species. Will have to catch some more next time.

Events conspired against me to get 50 this year; I've been standing next to people who have caught herring, shad, undulate ray and huss. I didn't get around to going to Kent, as intended, where a dab would be a certainty and did not claim a starry smoothhound as a separate species as others have.
If I chose to do 'combined' I would have added two more as I've had Rock Cook and Cuckoo Wrasse from a boat.
In other years I've had butterfish, triggers, john dory, red gurnard, couches bream, launce and a few others....members here have pointed me to eeelpout and smelt locations, I've caught them before too up in Lincolnshire a long time ago.
Perhaps I should go for 60.
After all, I don't have to concern myself with concrete or other work and can go fishing whenever I fancy ...as long as I can afford the fuel for 100 mile round trips.

You can't fail to catch a dab at halfpenny pier at Harwich, or the beach at Aldeburgh at the minute.

No. 16 Bull Huss Hive Beach, Burton Bradstock

Didn't catch one last year but started this evening with a 'Calf' Huss, the smallest bull Huss I've seen.

    mini huss.jpg
I caught a bigger one later but it didn't want to be photographed and wouldn't stay still so it is out of focus..

Hey, what bait and rig did you use to land the dragonettes? Wanted one for a while now. Cheers and well done on smashing the 15 barrier already!

They were caught on ragworm. Usually when I'm after them I'd tip the worm with a sliver of mackerel or, for preference, gar belly but I wasn't expecting them to turn up there. I usually catch them from the pier and not the beach.

As for the rig, a running ledger with a size 4 hook is the way to catch them, they are a real bottom feeder.

Awesome, thanks for the tips. I'll be sure to put them to practice next time I'm out that way.
