Hi All. Been a while but I have been flat out and had a few health problems, so booked the day off from the office and dusted the lure gear down for the first trial sesh of 2017.
Up at 6am and headed of to a mark that I worked hard to suss out last season. Arrived at the mark and sea conditions were perfect although a little colour to the water. Worked out my starting point and clipped on the big patch.
Had a few follows and then my friend turned up and said had anything??..As I turned round and said not yet mate but its looking good there was hell of a thump about 10 yards out and the Stella was screaming with that glorious note!. I laughed and shouted decent fish on mate. Took me by supruse the sneaky devil!!.. fish wasn't stopping and heading way out to sea. Heart was going and good solid head shakes it was certainly nice to be back in the mix!. Couldn't get to my phone but my friend managed to take some snaps of the scrap and fish in the water. Fish was way to heavy to lift so tried to guide it onto the rocks with no avail. Had to bite the bulet and wrap line round my hand and lift it, line slicing my fingers in the process. Got the fish onto the angled rock in front of me I was buzzing. As I bent down she kicked and line grazzed over the rock then PING!!..the beauty went sliding down the rock with patch firmly engulfed completely down its throat. Nothing I could but listen to the splash and watch her fly off before getting a pic with her. I'm not going to dwell and can only say she was a decent fish
.
Only wish I could have got the lure out as I very much doubt she will survive with that engulfed.
I fished on but the water colour soon turned to bad so decided to head to another area.
Clipped on a Sunslicker Gibbon paddle up in Sandeel. A Fantastic soft and caught me endless fish last season. First Cast to a turbulent patch of water an two twitches in a whack Im in lol. Spirited fight and landed another Silver bar. Busy over the next few hours with fish up to 3.5lb. Plus a bonus first ever sea trout
..unfortunately I can't show all the photos as they give to much of my marks away
.
Thanks to you all again for the advise and pm''s over last season. The advise and techniques have helped me no end!
