Hello all. Just getting back into sea fishing after 20 years on the fly. I had some decent sea gear, but my ex chucked it out when we went separate ways. Gives me anow excuse to treat myself to some new gear though, which I need help with!
I'll mainly be fishing off piers, harbour walls and rocks along the East Neuk of Fife and Arbroath where im from originally. So any tips on rods, reels and rigs - not to mention decent fishing marks for cod etc - would be fantastic! Oh, one last thing, fixed spool or multiplier?

Thanks Glenlivet. I did have a multi 20 years ago but I'm terrified of bird's nesting on my first trip out since then.

I've been accused recently on here of being Tyranosaurus Piscatorius for my defence of multipliers.

It was even suggested that this was an 'English' obsession, although I think that was just a bit racist;) and probably Brexit inspired.....

Welcome aboard, I'm in the FS camp but my fishing is limited to Lure fishing nowadays. Used to fish from my local beaches with multi's many years ago though.

Your better off I've got both but since I went with FS wouldn't go back. I mean there great if fishing rough ground get the lead off the bottom much quicker. Don't have to worry about birds nest aspecialey in the dark much easyier to pick up. Have all the die hard multi guys coming on now but it's took them years. My father swears by the multi but got to move with times lads.

Firstly a big welcome lots of good folk on here and you'll learn a lot.

Just to throw into the mix lol. Multiplier for me. I use both and am by no means an expert on using a multi. However the feel and noise from a multi when you get it spot on never ceases to illicit a great big smile on my face.

    Fs to start tho.

    Once again welcome.

    Regards
    Steve
