Talk abounds that their exists within a cavern, deep in the bowels of the earth, sheltered from all who seek – a coven of SWFF’ers, knowledgeable in the practice of the dark arts.

On the full moon, these wraiths may enter the mortal zone and walk among those with blood in their veins and skin that is soo warm to the touch.

With Ninja stealth, they rise in darkness and spirit away before the rising sun strikes their weathered hides. They are the upright predators of the Surf, the paradox to the armchair angler, the Nemesis to all creatures scaly. Prey are captured, secrets shared in gratitude and fish released to tell tale to their bass-lings in years to come, of their encounter with those whose grip cannot be refused.

Like a colony or swarm, they communicate – instinct is shared and new knowledge enters the collective database to be assimilated and enacted. Collectively, they are ever adapting, forming a synergy of experience far greater than the sum of its parts.

Mortals may have encountered these spirits, a shadow passing by, the swish of a line being hauled when no one was seen, a luckless session where it was clear that THEY had been there already?

The runes do not lie – these watery ghouls, eyes rimmed with salt, crab claw hands and seaweed for a beard – are stirring.

Oh, that sunshine and fair tides will bring life to their form, marrow to their bones and warmth to their wit, arise and walk among us again.

I've heard tell of such beings. Indeed, some have such fear of them that they arm themselves with crosses, garlic, wooden stakes, and silver keyboards. Personally I think it's nothing more than an old fish wives' tale. But then...
