Hi guys,
Picked the boys up yesterday and headed off to Penarth pier for a couple of hours, after a quick stop off in bobs to pick up some fresh lug.
Conditions were pretty good as it was still raining back home.
So we got on the pier for about half one which was tidy but only to find there was no water there, oh the joys of our sport!

But still it gave us plenty of time to set up our gear.

After setting up my three rods, which I haven't done in a while as I normally stick with two still no water haha.
Ryan and Perry managed to cast in round the corner so to speak which left me in the middle with no room. But in all fairness Ryan did budge up for me in the first place after a quick "FFS Chris",
half a flask of coffee and fourty **** later we had some water and all the rods were in but by now it was about half three and the pier shuts at five.
So the next hour was pretty uneventful, not a bite!! But Perry managed to fluke a whiting lol.
So a quick strip down and over to the barrage we went.
Feeling pretty optimistic still at this point we were, so set up again, mackerel on a running ledger, sandeel on a pulley rig and lug on a paternoster, expected the whiting to be menacing from the off but nothing!, West pier it wasn't.
Then a few little nibbles on Worm and reeled in my first codling of the year
I know it was small but they all count right.

Bites were few and far between then after we were there an hour or so it went nuts for about half hour then stopped again,?
Crazy, anyway I did manage a 1lb 8oz whiting, (45)cm long.

And that was that really, so I'll leave you with totals for last night. Forgot to mention had the whiting on sandeel tipped with lug.

Perry, whiting 10, rockling, and a flounder
Ryan, whiting 3
Chris, whiting 5 codling 1

All the best guys, be seeing you!
