    Hello Paul
Get the Penn like Tatch says, the mk 1 slidey is bullet proof and you can use it on clean ground as well as rough ground, great all round reel will last if you look after them.

Had a few of my penns years mate and got them second hand so probably years old...still in great nick but wash and clean after every use. I'm lucky to have brand new one as well, still in the box.

Penn 525 Mag is the better reel. What is the difference in price? I have seen well used Penn 525 Mags going for £80 -£90 quid and Sports mags barely making £50. Green CT Mags are worth more than Sports mags on the used market. If money is the same the Penn is a much better bargain.

i'm not too keen on the sports mag, maybe one of the worst of abu 65 cts.presuming it is the model with the mag adjuster collar.i had a problem with the collar moving when i used it reel down,it also has a plastic cog applying pressure to the spool bearing.i converted mine with some plastic pipe(spacer) and changed the mag adjuster to a slidy one from another reel.

The 65 will cast further than the penn "ish"! but the Penn will work day in day out for ever and more if looked after ie not dropped it will retrieve far better also but a well set up 525 will cast pretty well
ive an S mag extra that's been custom mono magged(took the knobby mag bits out then used the hole for mono mag kit)running on Smooth drag hybrids got it all from Blakdog use TSF321 oil when i get my timing right it sings quite nicely but don't go often enough now to keep me eye in on casting!
